KAM Lun Tai's mooncakes for this year's Mid-Autumn Festival are simply irresistible. The delectable line-up for 2006 includes four new creations, namely Black Sesame Lotus MC, Moonlight Shadow, Golden Durian Paste MC and Emerald Light MC.
These new mooncakes come with pastry-like skin. which is something new in Malaysia.
Cheese lovers will rave over the Moonlight Shadow with its butter cheese centre surrounded by chocolate paste. If you love durian, then you are in for a treat with the Golden Durian Paste MC with its fragrant durian paste surrounding a centre of buttery egg. The Emerald Light MC comes with a sweet corn centre.
The innovative new skin, which was created after a year of research and development, becomes crispier when it is cold, so it is recommended that you enjoy these delights straight from the fridge. Aiternatively, those who prefer it warm can just put the mooncakes in the oven and heat it up.
According to Steven Lure, manager of Kam Lun Tai, these delightful new mooncakes have received very positive response from the public. He comments: "We came up with this new creation because we felt that it was time to offer consumers something new, apart from the usual changes to flavour and paste."
Due to popular demand, some flavours from previous years are also available. Among them are Green Scenery, Dragon Fruit in Blackcurrant, Sweet Corn with One Yolk and Golden Jade Light with One Yolk.
A healthy choice will be the Fortune Forever, which is made from five grains. Snow skin varieties come in Crystalline Pandan Moonlight Shadow, Crystalline Pandan Pearly Jade with Spirulina and Crystalline Pandan Lotus One Yolk, among others.
Those who love traditional will surely love the delightful Red Bean, Lotus with One Yolk, Lotus and HK White Lotus with One Yolk mooncakes.
A popular flavour among the traditional crowd is pandan, which Kam Lun Tai makes from the juice of pandan leaves and contains healthy spirulina.
Kam Lun Tai mooncakes are all made from natural ingredients and contain no preservatives. The sugar content has also been reduced. The weight of the mooncakes is also stated clearly to assure customers that they are getting value for their money.
